During our recent trip to New York we visited the Museum of Natural History. We got to see some really cool dinosaur skeletons. Allie thought they were pretty cool, so I thought I’d see if I could recreate one in pancake form.

Here’s what I started with (I made all the shapes first then put them together with pancake batter):
And here’s Allie with the finished product…she saying “RAAAARRRRRRRRARARRRR!!!!”

Hubby and I, separately, breathed, “O. M. G.” in awed tones
I’m pretty sure you’re like the best dad ever! I never got dinosaur pancakes. But then again, Asian parents aren’t known for pancake breakfasts :X
Pure genius.
Your pancakes are amazing!
Amazing!!!!!! Way to make all dads seem lamer…
Your daughter is so lucky!
This is one of the coolest freaking things i’ve ever seen.
Dear Jim,
I don’t particularly like kids, but your pancakes still rock. Ergo, you must be doing something right. Perhaps you have captured the Platonic perfection that pancakes dream of being. Keep it up.

this is so cute! your daughter is very lucky to have a dad like you
Can I just say…you seem like such a fantastic dad!! Your daughter is one extremely lucky girl.
Oh, and also, that caption at the top, “Just trying to make some cool pancakes for my daughter” was one of the most adorable things ever!
You should make a how to book with all your recipies and art.
I am an art teacher and would totally buy it
I’ve just discovered your blog on reddit..and I’m really impressed. Apart from being the sweetest dad I know, you are very talented!
I have just shared your blog with everyone I know through fb! Caught it through facebook and thought of all the lowsy shaped pancakes I got as a kid! Thank you Jim!
I have just shared your blog with everyone I know through fb! Caught it through tastespotting and shared it on facebook..made me think of all the lowsy shaped pancakes I got as a kid! Thank you Jim!
Wow, this is incredible! I don’t think it ever would have occurred to me to make a 3D dinosaur skeleton out of pancakes… but bravo! You certainly an adventurous and fun dad! I’m curious as to what your daughter topped them with.
I wish I were so creative! My daughters would love these pancakes!
Smart, funny, handsome, and creative WOW! I’m impressed. Wish I’d married a man like you, would be happy with endless possibilities. Cute kid. Congrats on your successes. -jp
This is FANTASTIC! My husband just gave me a look like “Oh please dont make me try this.” Hahaa. Amazing!!
AWESOME! What a cool dad Allison has !
Dude, your making the rest of us dads look bad!! No, but seriously, I’m a dad & graphic designer & those are amazing!! I am going to attempt some of your pancakes this weekend….

party inspiration
We love all your pancakes. And we also said O.M.G. when we saw just about every one. William, 8, thinks you should make brontosaurus. He’s really into dinos. Keep up the awesome art!!!
Your daughter is just way too cute
My dad was a pancake artist too, but not as fancy as this! I’d hate to eat it! Amazing.
How do you get the cooked pancakes to stand up, I would think they would be somewhat floppy after a couple of minutes. Do you use a special batter?
You seriously need to do a book. Cash in on your 15 minutes, and have some back to the pancake batter fund.
The dinosaur is, by far, the coolest pancake ever. Of all time,
That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I can’t believe it’s possible! And the picture with your daughter is adorable!
I am so impressed! Those are really outstanding and I wanted to say thank you for sharing the pictures and techniques.
Hey u’ve got a fan in China~~~~
I’m very touched by ur love to ur daughter~ wish ur family always happy~~~
Hi, Jim–
Just letting you know that my 2nd grade son is taking in photos of the impressive dino creation for his “Interesting Facts” sharing turn…with the potty pancake as an optional, IF teacher-approved, finale.
Your artistry is admirable, sir. And your daughter is a superb model. My only question: does she really like the taste of cold pancakes? : )
This is freaking amazing! You are one talented individual!!!
You are the best.
Your girl is sooooo lucky.
(^_____^)
greeting from Thailand
How the heck do you make pancakes like this?!?! AMAZING!!! plus you have such a cute daughter!!
Awesome, my dad makes pancakes all the time. Wish they were as cool as yours! How do you get the pancakes to stand up like that, don’t they fall over?
OMG…… How lucky girl you are, Allie… hi… Jims, I have two little doughters and a son., sometime I don’t have any idea any more to make good breakfast for them… so please send me your recipes…. i wanna try to make it better…. thank’s
This blew me away! A 3D T-Rex fossil pancake. Are you kidding me??? All I know is make letters out of pancakes. You’re raising the bar too much – give us human parents a break, man! From now on, this site is off my son’s radar (until I’ve learned a few designs from here). Grrr.
The downside of this is, of course, she will have higher and higher expectations.
Love your creations. Keep them coming!
This one is from the Crepeaceous period.
Check out the kid’s book Detective Pancake. It is a great read about a family that has their breakfast stolen.
how lucky ur daughter….^^
