Practicing for Valentine’s day

I decided to test out some ideas for Valentine’s Day pancakes, but all I could come up with is an arrow through a heart. The heart is colored with strawberry jam, and the arrow uses cocoa powder.

I think I might be able to make a “box of chocolates” pancake…maybe a necklace too. Let me know if you have any ideas! Valentines day is one of Allie’s favorite holidays so I need to go all out.

My wife will probably prefer real chocolates to pancake ones, time to go to See’s candy.

    Red hearts with lace edges! (make the red one first, let it cook through a bit, and then add some “lace” edges with regular batter)

    Perhaps cupid? Or a teddy bear holding a heart in its lap? Another idea would be a rose, but that would be kinda hard to make it look good…unless you took the time to make each petal separately and then stack them underneath each other to form a rose…

    maybe you could use a variation on hearts and make conversation hearts using the sayings like I love you, or be mine etc.
    Lady bugs are also a big valentines day idea, you could do pink like you did with the heart, and for the spots make brown hearts
    and it would be a “love bug”

    How about pancake versions of the chalky heart candies with messages written in the middle?

    I think you should make a box and fill it up with actual chocolates. Or make a bundle of daisies since roses seem pretty difficult.

    Maybe you can do a little cupid with wings and an arrow? Btw, if you’re going with chocolate for your wife, you need to do much better than See’s (unless she specifically loves See’s). Try Teucher or Joseph Schmidt, or any specialized chocolatier boutique in your area :) Now THAT’s where you get mind-blowing chocolate.

    Ok ,so sorry because I can’t get anything on the site to work…but I wanted to ask and maybe you have…but again could not see your archives…Have you made CINNAMON ROLL PANCAKES yet??? I made them this morning and my kiddos…LOVED THEM! So delicious! I made them for the first time and immediately put them on my blog of course….but while perusing I came across your blog and it’s awesome! And then I thought…Wait…I wonder..has he made these for those cuties yet? If not…I must tell him about it! lol. I am sure I am soooo late in the game but just in case! :)
